The Eastern type atlatls we offer utilize materials and components based on original elements which made up the tool.
-
Handles: slotted or drilled deer antler
-
Dart hooks: modified antler tines
-
Weights: banner stone type made from banded slate or hard stone
-
Handle: Since no component of this nature has survived in the Eastern areas, we utilize a flat handle fabricated from Osage orange wood, with all elements glued with pine pitch.
-
Finger loops: While not all atlatls may have had finger loops, we include them with our reproductions. Made from elk or buffalo leather, they are based on configurations that have survived in the caves of the Southwest.
